Line 2 Mode Select Pulse, Level, or Level-Delayed or Level Shift Hold Via the A or B key
Pulse followed by ENT.
Pulse, mseconds Enter the Pulse Time in milliseconds, via the keypad followed by ENT.
0050
The pulse time is the minimum amount of time (typically in milliseconds) that the count circuit must be
activated to consider a copy to have been made. When “ghost” deductions happen randomly, this setting can
often be increased to ignore noise. When copies are not counted at all, the pulse may have to be lowered as
the copier may be supplying a very short signal. Most copiers provide a pulse of at least 50 milliseconds.
Blind, mseconds Enter the Blind Time in milliseconds, via the keypad followed by ENT.
0100
Blind is the time between deduct pulses that the 7210 ignores the count signal. This can be used to block out
“relay bounce” from the copier or when the copier gives 2 or more pulses close together per page printed. Be
careful that the blind time is not set too high as this would “ignore” the pulse for the next page. To test the
settings, run a 5-page job. If less than 5 pages count; DECREASE the blind time. If more than 5 pages
count; INCREASE the blind time. This test should be repeated for all paper sizes available to ensure proper
timing.
Delay Disable ms Enter the Delay Disable Time in milliseconds, via the keypad followed by
0000 ENT.
Delay Disable is the time between pressing the clear button and the opening of the Enable relay. On some
copiers, if the enable is opened mid-cycle, the paper will jam inside the copier.
Delay Count, sec Enter the Delay Count Time in seconds, via the keypad followed by ENT.
0003
Delay Count is the time between the clear button being pressed and the return to standby mode. This should
be set high enough so that the last copy is counted before the terminal returns standby. This can be
determined by timing the print cycle from the press of the print button and the copy being displayed on the
terminal then add 1 second.
Auto End Time se Enter the Auto End Session Time in seconds, via the keypad followed by ENT
0090
Auto End Session is the time between the last count pulse received by the terminal and the time at which the
terminal will automatically return to standby mode; disabling the copier. The Auto End countdown is reset
each time a copy is made.
If the copier type in terminal setup is set to “Minolta 2 Bizhub” the following “Copier Application Setup”
options are accessed by using the A and B keys to scroll to the item, then the ENT key to select that item.

Auto End Session is the time between the last count pulse received by the terminal and the time at which the
terminal will automatically return to standby mode; disabling the copier. The Auto End countdown is reset
each time a copy is made.
Many modern copiers have a second output port that is used to identify the copy options set as a copy is
made. The 4210 can monitor up to 8 of these outputs to determine the price to be charged for up to 12
distinct copy prices. As the status of the signals change the 4210 transmits the type of copy set on the
machine. When a count pulse is detected the value assigned to thatprice is charged.
Typically copiers have 2 or 3 outputs that indicate paper size based upon a truth table. Other outputs may
indicate color or 2 sided (Duplex) copies.
Consider the Following example using only 5 of the 8 4210 interfaces inputs.

The outputs A to E are connected to the 4210 inputs 1 to 5 respectively. Therefore A is equal to binary 1. B
is Binary 2 …E is Binary 16. An 8.5X11 Colour Non-Duplex copy would have a value of 1+8 = 9, a 8.5X14
Colour Duplex copy would have a value of 1+2+8+16 =27

Some copiers have a second output port that is used to identify the copy options set as a copy is made and the
count pulse is a 5 volt TTL Level. In this case the 4210 can monitor up to 6 of these outputs to determine the
price to be charged for up to 12 distinct copy prices. It detects when the copy is made on input 1 and uses
it’s built in relay for enabling the copier.
Typically copiers have 2 or 3 outputs that indicate paper size based upon a truth table. Other outputs may
indicate color or 2 sided (Duplex) copies.
Consider the Following example using only 5 of the 8 4210 interfaces inputs.

The outputs A to E are connected to the 4210 inputs 3 to 7 respectively. Therefore A is equal to binary 1. B
is Binary 2 …E is Binary 16. An 8.5X11 Colour Non-Duplex copy would have a value of 1+8 = 9, a 8.5X14
Colour Duplex copy would have a value of 1+2+8+16 =27

Installation
nstallation Instructions:
Mounting
The NetLink Terminal may be mounted in any convenient location on, or next to, the controlled machine.
Mount the NetLink Terminal securely to the machine or to a desk using double stick foam mounting strips.
ST, is available from ITC Systems that allows the terminal to be secured
An optional stand, 1010-ST,
independently from the copier.
Copier Connection
The Enable is provided on the Black and White wires from the NetLink Terminal. This is a dry relay contact
which is NORMALLY OPEN (open when disabled, closed when enabled).
The relay is capable of switching up to 30 volts DC at 2 amps or 125 Volts AC at 1 amp. Typically, the
Enable is attached to the copier Key Counter Plug by removing any jumper on the plug then attaching the
Black wire to one side of the circuit and the White to the other side.
Black Red
Enable White Brown Deduct
The pulse is typically connected to the other 2 circuits on the Key Counter Plug. On most copiers, this will
give 1 count per page printed (24Volt DC Pulse). The Pulse (count) input goes through a bi-directional
Opto-isolator that will accept AC or DC signals without concern for polarity.
Connect the Red to one wire of the Pulse (count) circuit and the Brown to the other.
Chassis Ground
The Green Wire from the NetLink Terminal is attached to circuit ground and the case.
The Green must be attached to the copier’s chassis to ensure that both units are properly grounded to protect
the unit from possible damage due to electro-static discharge.
