Of the hospital beds, only 40% are paying, 30% are totally free and the balance pay a highly nominal fee. The hospital sees over 120,000 cancer patients new and old annually. They are drawn from all over Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Kerala. The outbreak of pandemic has created unforeseen problems in functioning of the Cancer Institute (WIA). - PPE - Personal Protective Equipments have to be provided to health workers, doctors, nurses, sanitary workers and others. It is mandatory- This is expensive. = COVID testing of patients attending Outpatient become necessary since they are coming from different areas. = With difficult transport, we need to provide pick up service for large no. of staff — We need to take care of patients and staff. Our staff strength is nearly 1000. Every one of the above involves expenditure. Our Need We are in dire need of financial support, at least till we reach normalcy.
