ロバート・パーカー教授講演会のご案内

日本学術振興会（ＪＳＰＳ）の招聘短期プログラムによりロバート・パーカー先生（現在オ
ックスフォード大学名誉教授）が 3 月 20 日から 4 月 9 日にかけて来日されます。全体で 3 週
間滞在のうち、最初の一週間は京都に、3 月 27 日より東京に滞在されます。
東京では、下記の要領にて 3 回研究会を開催いたします。年度末のご多忙な時期かと存じま
すが、なにとぞご出席くださいますようご案内申し上げます。
今さら申し上げる必要はございませんが、パーカー先生は長年オックスフォード大学にあっ
て、西洋古典学の研究と教育に従事され、
「ギリシア宗教史」研究を古典研究の中心テーマの
一つとして確立されました。先生は、昨年オックスフォード大学教授を早期退職されましたが、
今回の日本滞在でこれまでの研究の中で特に重要と思われるテーマを三つ選びまして、皆さま
と一緒に議論できればと存じます。特に先生は日本の宗教にも関心をお持ちですので、西洋古
典関係者以外の幅広い分野の方々に声をかけていただければ幸いです。

パーカー教授履歴
Secondary School: pupil at St. Paul's School, Hammersmith, London, 1964-7.
University: scholar of New College, Oxford, 1968-72: first class in Honour Moderations
in Greek and Latin Languages and Literature, 1970, and in the Final Honour School of
Literae Humaniores (History and Literature), 1972.
Awarded D.Phil., 1977, for a thesis entitled Miasma: Pollution and Purification in
Early Greek Religion.
Employment: October 1976 - September 1996: fellow of Oriel College and University
Lecturer (CUF) in Greek and Latin Languages and Literature.
October 1, 1996 - 2016: Wykeham Professor of Ancient History in the University of
Oxford.
