1.0 The Working and Access Clearances given in the following Tables of this Appendix are derived from the
SAFETY DISTANCES 'X' (Table 1) specified in Rule 5.6.1 with the addition of 'Application Factors' suitable for
the particular activity to be undertaken in the vicinity of exposed LIVE HIGH VOLTAGE conductors.
2.0 Appendix F1 specifies the Working and Access Clearances for work on overhead line poles when work is to be
undertaken with the conductors LIVE.
(See Rule 2.3.6.4(a) and Rule 2.5.1.4).
3.0 Appendix F2 specifies the Working and Access Clearances for work in substations containing exposed LIVE
HIGH VOLTAGE conductors.
(See Rule 2.3.6.4(a) and Rule 2.5.5.1).
4.0 Appendix F3 specifies the Working and Access Clearances that Contractors should be using when carrying out
HIGH VOLTAGE LIVE LINE WORK on PDO wood pole overhead lines. (See Rule 2.6.3[x]).
IMPORTANT NOTE
This Appendix has been produced and added to these Rules to give AUTHORISED ELECTRICAL PERSONS
operational guidance, when they are issuing ELECTRICAL SAFETY DOCUMENTS, in the types of situations
covered in appendices F1, F2 and F3.
The Working and Access Clearance figures given should be used as a minimum requirement, and should be
increased if practicable in all such situations.
The importance of the AUTHORISED ELECTRICAL PERSONS understanding the intention of Rule 2.3.6, and in
particular Rule 2.3.6.4, is essential when using the Clearances given in this Appendix F.
