Introduction
The Grundfos CHI pumps are non-self-priming, hori- CHIU pumps are horizontal, multistage centrifugal
zontal, multistage centrifugal pumps. pumps of the canned rotor type, i.e. pump and motor
form an integral unit without shaft seal. The pumps are
made of stainless steel, and the bearings are lubricated
by the pumped liquid.

The actual operating range depends on the operating 16
pressure, the pump type, the type of shaft seal, the 12 CHI 15/CHI 20
pumped liquid and the liquid temperature.
8
Shaft seal
Select the shaft seal on the basis of liquid temperature
and type of liquid.
For other liquids than water, the chemical resistance of
the materials, including seal face, seat and rubber com-
ponents of the shaft seal, must be taken into account.
The following table shows the available shaft seal
types.
