Honors 100, Assignment 3

I had the pleasure of interviewing Avi Soval. Avi is currently an aspiring

Aeronautics and Astronautics major, though he is considering a double major in
Astronomy and Physics, and expressed an interest in Political Science. He participated in
Future Business Leaders of America during high school, and went to nationals twice for
business plans he presented. He also did a project on business ethics, which was "very
interesting." Avi's high school activities were not limited to business explorations. For
four years, he was an avid participant of Model United Nations, and he was also a
member of a Science National Honors Society Club. Avi has been recognized various
times for his work in Model United Nations, and he helped host a competition, and
staffed others. At the University of Washington, he hopes to continue exploring business,
and participate in a study abroad, or travel in some capacity. He is a member of the Tae
Kwon Do and rock climbing clubs.
The University of Washington offered a wide range of experiential learning
activities that suit Avi's diverse interests. AIESEC is a club associated with the Foster
School of Business, which runs an international paid internship program. Participating
would allow avi to pursue his interest in Business, while also fulfilling an Honors
experiential learning requirement in the areas of international engagement or research,
depending on whence the interview came. Since Avi is interested in traveling, he could
also look into the "Honors in Rome" trip happening this summer. His areas of interest
indicate very demanding majors, and having a chance to earn some honors credits during
the summer would certainly be helpful, particularly if it can be used to fulfill an
experiential learning requirement in the area of international engagement. Avi could also
act as an Honors Peer Educator, for a leadership role in his community and experiential
learning credit.

Other: the Carlson Leadership & Public Service Center has many and varied
opportunities to serve the community
