Exercise 1 Reflection

My Journey to Here

My favorite part of the exercise was hearing about everybody. My catchphrase, for about

a month at the end of last year, was "everybody is interesting." I met a lot of people, through bus

and train conversations, and by going up and saying hi, because of course they would be good

people to talk to. People are incredible, and I love hearing what they have to tell about

themselves, and how they tell it. So, this exercise was great, because it gave me a chance to hear

about people without the oddness of speaking to strangers.

as far as actually creating my journey went, this was a lot of fun. I really like drawing,

and I don't make time for it very often, so an assignment that actually encouraged creativity was

really appreciated. Of course, though the drawing itself was delightful, there are difficulties

associated with condensing a life into a page. Drawing out my history made me pick and choose

my moments. It was difficult, because I think a lot of who people are is in the details. Should I

have included the hours I spent changing my handwriting in fourth grade? That I like dry cereal?

That I want to create new things more than anything, but don't know where to start? I had to

draw pictures that represented other things, and hope that they would get my meaning across. It

was difficult, but a lot of fun, and I'm very glad I did it.
