Life during quarantine

Quarantine is the discussion topic that's been on everybody's lips for

the past couple of months now. A pandemic, although an
unfortunate event in nature, is not without its benefits. The latest
period has proven itself to be not only a good time for self-discovery
and self-development, but also a test; a test meant to bring to
surface our most hidden strengths and to remind us how much we
care about our loved ones.

First of all, during this quarantine I was able to read more for my own
pleasure and I had time to discover some new hobbies like jogging
and photography. What's been getting me through these hard times,
is none other than the before-mentioned discovery of certain
'powers' I never knew I possesed. Not only has self-quarantine
granted me a lot of free time to read all the books that have been
idling on my bookshelves for a while now, but it has also brought out
the inner photographer in me. It has pushed me towards buying a
camera and seeing the world through a lens, granting me the power
to freeze time through a simple push of the shutter-release button.

Secondly, the environment has drawn benefits from the period of

quarantine that we have been going through, primarily due to the
reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and overall pollution, as a
result of lighter automobile traffic, reduction in littering and
cancelling of international flights.

On the flipside, the quarantine continues to act as an incentive to

proper social distancing, separation from friends, relatives and loved
ones, as well as a major inconvenience in regards to everyone's plans
that involved travelling this year. Be it a good time for self-discovery
and reflection as it may, quarantine is the proverbial 'trial by fire' for
most people, myself included.
It's a test of mental strength and resolve, as being away from the
people you care about is no easy task, under any circumstances,
especially when their safety and welfare depend heavily on every
other person's common sense and ability to follow orders.

All things considered, the quarantine period we've all been

experiencing for the past couple of months has undeniably tested us.
It's reminded us how much we care about our loved ones and it's
once again proven to us that together we can overcome any
hardship, so long as we stay focused on our objective and keep on
hoping. We bend, yet we never break.
