Is life better now than it was 100 years ago?

If we try to compare the present life to the life from 100 years ago,
many people think that it has been improved over the decades. I
agree with this idea but I also believe that many aspects of the life
were better in the past.

With the progress of communication technology, the way

individuals  interact  has revolutionised. Today, people can stay in
touch with their friends without any  delay. For example, many
people use mobile phones and the Internet to
communicate with others who live geographically far away. But, in
the past, this facility was never heard of and people rather conveyed
their regards through letters which were time-consuming. From this
aspect, it is evident that modern people enjoy the smooth
communication than people did in the past.

In addition to communication, the contemporary world now enjoys

fast and safe travelling with the development of various means
of transportation, Nowadays it  has become convenient and prompt
as opposed to the past decades. For instance, there are different
means of transportation such as buses, taxis, trains and
aeroplanes which are being used to satisfy travellers’ necessities with
minimal stakes and at high speed. In the past, human beings  used
animals such as horses or donkeys for commuting and transporting
goods and they were ineffective and made  the journey arduous.
Thus, it is obvious that modern population experiences a better life.

However, there is a downside to this progress. The quality of water

and air has decreased over the years because of pollution. Many
species of birds and animals have disappeared from the planet due to
human activity.
To conclude, life has improved greatly as human race has made
significant progress in most aspects of the life in the last 100 years.
However, the same advancements have also adversely affected our
life and planet in the form of pollution, contamination, and global
warming. People need to ensure that new technologies benefit the
planet as well, so that we will have an even better world after 100
years.
