Pathways in Civil Engineering Profession, USTP Response to Industry’s Needs (Professional
Science Masters) and other PSM Program and STRIDE Initiatives. Engr. Nestor Ybanez
(Chairperson, CE Dept) introduced the 5 resources speakers for 2-days event. Dr. Dennes
Bergado discussed about Experiences of Soil/Ground Improvements and Erosion Control
Measures. Dr. Casan King Sampaco discussed about The Panama Canal Expansion Program:
Geotechnical Aspects of Design and Construction and The 1-5 Everett Freeway Expansion
Design-Build Project, Washington, USA. And Dr. Marolo Alfaro discussed about
Instrumentation, Monitoring and Numerical Modeling of Geotechnical Infrastructures.
Throughout the technical session, there was a lot of information put into the mind of the
participants since each word uttered by the speaker was meaningful so each of us listened very
well to his lecture like what the undersigned did when they was discussing its lecture. In short,
this seminar was not a typical day for the Civil Engineering faculty and students instead a day for
them to cherish or remember as they formulate a new case study for qualitative research.

NARRATIVE REPORT #2
Last August 19, 2019 on sunny day, we were doing an inspection regarding with this
subject inside USTP Campus. It was currently constructed of the Design Engineering and
Fabrication Laboratory. It was started last January 5, 2019 and supposedly date of completion
last May 04, 2019. Due to circumstances, it was extended until it will completed. The building
was cost Php 21,475,297.25 with the contractor of JH Pameron Construction and Enterprises,
Inc. from Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur. As I observed, their construction workers has lack
of PPE and it will look dangerous to look at while they are doing their jobs. During our
inspection, they done with Break Ground, Excavation, Foundation, and so forth. I hope that this
project will be done strongly and successfully.
