GENERAL PRICING RULES

ALL MODIFICATIONS ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY

Modifications that can be supplied are not limited to only those listed on the following pages; these are considered standard
modifications. Custom designed motors that include modifications not listed can be evaluated on a project basis. Contact
Product Marketing with the specification details and anticipated volume levels.

USE OF MODIFICATIONS
Read carefully all details and explanatory notes for each modification

These modifications are designed to be added to the base list price of a Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (IC41), Totally
Enclosed Non-Ventilated (IC40), or Totally Enclosed Air Over (IC48) motor. Adding these modifications to any other
enclosure may result in price discrepancies.

DISCOUNTS
All modified motors will be subject to the multiplier and discount symbol of the base price motor unless a specific modification
calls out a change in discount symbol and/or multiplier.

CHANGE NOTICE

All change notices requiring a product change will be subject to a $100 NET re-specification charge plus the applicable
modification adder. If the change notice is received within two weeks of scheduled ship date, the change will be priced at the
applicable MOD center charges. This policy does not pertain to paperwork changes (i.e. territory number changes or “ship to”
addresses).

ALTITUDE
The ratings listed in this selection guide apply to energy efficient motors operating at an altitude up to 1000 meters above sea
level with a “B: temperature rise up to 40 C ambient. When operating at a higher altitude derating may be necessary in order to
maintain the motor’s operating temperature. The following derate factor should be used for rerating the nameplate KW.

CLASS F TEMPERATURE LIMITS 100% 100% 95%

(1) Motors requiring a combination of Ambient and Altitude must first refer to AC Product Marketing for pricing and
availability.
(2) Motors are based using sine wave power, if motor is applied to an Inverter as well as requiring High Altitude conditions
it must first be reviewed by AC Product Marketing for the need of special features and/or a special design to meet the
application.

Ambient conditions must first be reviewed by AC Product Marketing for the need of special features and/or special
design to meet the application.

BALANCE
All motors are dynamically balanced and vibration measured in accordance with IEC standards. Modified motors can be built to
exceed standard limits as outlined below.

MOTOR VIBRATION MAXIMUM WHEN MEASURED PER IEC 34-14

FRAME SIZES IEC 112 TO 280

VELOCITY (mm/s R.M.S.) 3000 RPM (1) 1500 RPM & SLOWER
STANDARD 2.8 1.8
ULTRA-STANDARD 1.8 1.12
PRECISION 1.12 .71
ULTRA-PRECISION .71 .45

(1) Ultra-Precison balance of .45 is not available on two pole (3000RPM) motors.

Vibration level of motors in field are usually higher than when measured per the IEC procedure
mm/s refers to Velocity, millimeters per second R.M.S.
Vibration is measured on all three axes using five separate locations
Vibration at frequencies other than running speed will be less than values noted above
Motors with roller bearings are not available with vibration limits at the Precision or Ultra-Balance levels

BEARINGS
ROLLER BEARINGS

A motor equipped with roller bearings must be belt duty and is not suitable for coupled service.
Roller bearings are available on the drive end of modified motors on 1500RPM or slower, 160 frames and up for above standard
overhung loads.

(1) Frames 160 to 250 a Roller Bearing is optional depending on the belt load application. For 280 frames on belt duty
applications a Roller Bearing on the drive end of the motor must be ordered, and the above price addition added and
written on the order entry form.

SEALED/SHIELDED/OPEN BEARINGS

Bearing location must be specified on order. Indicate whether FE, BE, or BOTH. This adder is for standard ball bearings only
and not applicable to Thrust or Roller Bearings.

BEARING CAVITY SEALED CONSTRUCTION

This modification may be used in lieu of sealed bearings where sealed bearings are not available, impractical, or undesirable.

Must be added to “IP54, IP55, or IP56” motor

Bearing cavities on both sides of bearing are packed with grease and sealed by inner cap
Shielded bearings are used wherever possible, but open bearings are also available; please specify choice.
Normal grease entry and outlet openings are plugged, and plugs are staked in place.
A nameplate is mounted on the motor reading “Do Not Lubricate”

This construction makes more grease available to the bearing raceway than does a sealed for life bearing and is available for all
bearing types including roller and thrust bearings. Order write-up must specify which bearing(s) to be sealed whether FE, BE,
or BOTH.

INSULATED BEARING

Available only on horizontal 280 frames. Contact AC Product Marketing for vertical applications.
Only one bearing needs to be insulated to break the electrical path. Reliance standard practice is to insulate the FE
(Opposite Drive End) bearing only.
Motors with a drive end roller bearing will always have only the FE (Opposite Drive End) insulated.

TERMINAL BLOCKS

The terminal block is provided on IEC motors as an industry standard not as a requirement by IEC, at no additional charge.
These terminal blocks are designed to accept single hole lugs from the customer. The blocks will be sized with studs as follows,
the end users will have the responsibility to select the proper size lugs to fit the studs. The selection of a dual voltage motor will
eliminate the ability to supply terminal blocks with the standard product configuration.

OIL MIST LUBRICATION

“OIL MIST LUBRICATION” is available for IC41, IC40, and IC48 enclosures.

The motor modified using the adder will ship with inlet and outlet plugs installed, a special lubrication nameplate, sealed lead

of shipment no lubricant will be provided. This modification requires the features of IP54, IP55, or IP56 motor.

TESTS
Each Reliance motor is tested to assure conformance with electrical and mechanical specifications. Each motor is given a
Routine Test per IEEE Std. 112.

ROUTINE TEST

This is a test report per IEEE Std. 112 Appendix A and includes complete nameplate information. The test report does not
include Vibration data; this data requires an additional $50NET to the Routine Test & Report adder . Note the locked rotor
test which is included in Routine Test is a single phase locked rotor test. For a Three Phase Locked Rotor Test add an
additional $250 NET to the Reliance Test & Report adder.

COMPLETE TEST

A complete test uses a dynamometer to verify nameplate description and electrical design characteristics. After verification the
test results are supplied on a test report per IEEE Std. 112 Appendix B.

CALIBRATION TEST

Consists of 0 to 125% rated load test measurement of speed, torque, current, power factor and efficiency at rated voltage. The
data is provided as a curve plotted n Reliance standard format.

NOISE TEST

This verifies sound levels per procedures defined in IEEE-85 under a No Load Condition.

POLARIZATION INDEX TEST

This is the recommended procedure for the measurement of insulation resistance of rotating machinery rated 1 HP (I KW) or
greater. Testing is done per IEEE #43, latest revision. Polarization Index is the ration of a 10 min. resistance with constant test
 potential applied.
