Pitting: A single pit should not be greater than the area of a 2mm [.079 inch] diameter JE x) circle. Interconnection of pits is not allowable and is treated as one pit. CAM LOBE WEAR LIMITS Measure across the peak of the lobes. B Series Intake: 47.040mm [1.852 in.] minimum B Series Exhaust: 46.770mm [1.841 in.] minimum C Series Intake: 51.774mm [2.038 in. minimum C Series Exhaust: 51.596mm [2.031 in.] minimum Edge Deterioration (Breakdown) The area of edge deterioration should not be greater than the equivalent area of a 2mm [0.079 inch] circle within + or - 20 degrees of the nose of the cam lobe. Outside of the + or - 20 degrees of the nose of the cam lobe, the areas of edge deterioration should not be greater than the equivalent area of a 6mm [0.236 inch] circle. 8774-2 Page 3 of 4 The above illustration shows normal grain pattern and a casting flaw within the nose area.
