Section A: Directed Writing

[35 marks]
[Time suggested: 45 minutes]

Malaysia is facing the phenomenon of El Niño causing some schools to be closed.

As the Head Prefect, write to your Principal the effects faced by the students and suggestions
to overcome it. Using the information below, write your report.

Effects:
• dehydration
• high fever
• skin rashes
• sore throat
• loss focus

Suggestions:
• no Physical Education class
• provide more water cooler
• repair broken fans
• suitable clothing
• build covered walkway

When writing the report, you must:

- address it to the principal
- give a title
- write the name of the reporter
- use all the information given
- add one effect and one suggestion of your own

Note :

For your report, you will receive up to 15 marks for the format and content points, and up to
20 marks for the quality of your writing.

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics.

1. Describe a vacation you enjoyed most and why you would do it again.

2. Bauxite mining provides jobs. Do you agree?

3. Should housewives be paid?

4. Write a story about a teacher that ends with:

“… it was the most memorable moment.”

5. ‘Blood is thicker than water’

Describe a situation you face with a sibling.
