Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, known as Juanes, was born in Colombia, in the
state of Antioquia, on August 9, 1972. From a very young age he was interested in
the world of music and began to play various instruments. In the beginning when
he was only 15 years old he founded the music group Ekhymosis.
In 1999 he decided to start his solo career as Juanes and in four years and three
albums he became the Latin artist with the most credibility, sales and projection in
the international market. Juanes is an Ionic artist in his country, he is a singer,
guitarist, producer and author of the music and lyrics of all the songs he sings. On
February 1, 2012, Juanes performed an acoustic gig for his live album Juanes
MTV Unplugged which was released in May of the same year.
Later on, Juanes has won 9 Latin Grammy Awards, 5 MTV Awards, 6 Lo Nuestro
Awards, 3 Amigo Awards and one Ondas Award among others. Juanes is a very
dedicated man to his family, which consists of his wife Karen Martinez. She is an
actress, model and presenter originally from Cartagena, has been married to
Juanes for 13 years and has three beautiful children: Luna, Paloma and Dante.
