School's Current Situation
Pandan Elementary School has a total enrolment of 805 pupils (As of
September 2019) whose residences are mostly from Barangay V and adjacent and
nearby barangays as well. Of such number, 428 are boys and 377 are girls
enrolled across varied grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The school has
22 instructional rooms and 4 noninstructional rooms, and 15 rooms for
demoiition/condemnation.
School awards and recognition have been an evident. In fact, the school
received various awards in district, division and regional level competitions. This is
despite the limitation on textbooks, learning materials and equipment. In almost all
grade levels, the textbook ratio did not meet the national planning standard of 1:1
textbook-pupil ratio. While in Grade 6 level, only two subjects (EsP and
Mathematics) have textbooks utilized by the learners.
The school strives to improve the performance of the pupils and the school
as a whole. It has exerted all efforts to provide quality education and keep
learners in class, that is why the school's drop-out rate is less than 1% of its total
enrolment. However, looking at the literacy level of pupils in both English and
Filipino, the schoo! still needs to strengthen skills in reading and comprehension
since 21% of pupils from Grades 3-6 and 46% from Grades 4-6 fall under Frustration
Level in Filipino and English, respectively. Teachers need to sustain and
continuously implement the best practices of the school, such as reading
intervention and enhancement classes.
Parents’ support is very much important to every pupil's learning. Teachers
are the second parents; parents are the original teachers to children. Their
Participation to school activities encourages the pupils to continue their quest for
education.
The stakeholders’ participation and contribution still in adaptable with the
rate of 75% of the total attendance including co-curricular, extra-curricular,
meetings and assemblies, The number of volunteer hours during scouting, contests
other activities have limited financial assistance from the stakeholders. In response
to this, the school still has manageably to create funding resources for the
sustainability of the school projects. But during the Brigada Eskwela the school
remarkably got the highest number of volunteer hours
