EVIDENCE: THE HAPPINESS ADVANTAGE

I will never forget what marked my life and taught me that happiness is not in the material or in
the prestige. Three years ago I worked doing surveys of poor households, my job was to ask about
their economic situation and everything related. I felt very sad because in many houses they
lacked many resources. I even cried a few times after leaving each home. I felt helpless. I wanted
to do things for them, but I couldn't. In many homes they only ate 1 or 3 times, so I decided to
take food and sweets with me to give them to the children I found, I felt very good every time I
gave something to those families, it felt great to see their smiles. I think it was enough despite
their poverty, they treated me like a member of their family and offered me what they had
without thinking that they would be left with nothing, once it started to rain and I had no way to
cover myself, a lady gave me a sack to protect me from the cold, I was very happy because I know
that she felt the same as I did when I did my best, since the Bible says that there is more happiness
in giving than in receiving, in my life I have always tried to give the best of me and if I have the
opportunity to give something away, I give it without regrets and no matter to whom, the people
who feel empty and sad are because they have not helped anyone or because they only live for
them, on my part I I don't want to be like this. I feel happy when I give what I can and seeing the
smiles of people gives me satisfaction in life.
