ABSTRACT

According to the result of research, 56 out of 192 countries of WHO members

in 2004 did approximately 234.2 million surgical procedures which were potential
for complication and death every year (Weiser et al., 2008). Data of WHO indicated
that the main complications of surgery were defection and continuous inpatient
among 3-16% patients in developing countries (WHO, 2009). The increasing number
of patients has affected the increasing demand for surgical services. Therefore, a
place providing health service with surgery focus is required based on the expertise
of surgery field. It will serve not only surgery or operation process, but also further
treatment to decrease the effects of post-surgery. The approach of design under the
theme of Green Architecture uses macro concept of Healing Environment. It refers to
the healing process of patients. Micro concept of shape is Natural and Passionate
Interior intended for giving natural image and colors to enliven passion. Meanwhile,
the micro concept of land order is directional circulation by creating clear zoning.
Thus, the result of design is expected to facilitate people in Banyuwangi city for
getting health facility related to specific surgery or operation through Green Hospital
with Healing Environment concept. It will help the healing process of patients and
create cozy and relaxed feelings to the patient’s family as well as to the medical and
non-medical officers.
