As we all know that this act of depicting someone else’s idea or work as your own is a great crime and it

should be handled.

To handle this offense The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has set up a committee “The
Plagiarism Standing Committee” so that the people that are involved in these kind of crimes could be
taken care of properly through the law.

HEC has further said that this policy is not only limited to the students only but is applicable to all the
teachers, institutions or any other personality that is going to be involved in writing or publishing their
work.

The policy says that the offender may be rusticated from the university and from joining any institute for
a period as decided by the HEC. The offender may also be degraded to a lower class or given an F grade,
fined an amount and given a written warning if the offense is considered as minor and not major.

The policy also says that if the offense is major the degree of the student will be withdrawn.

The notification of plagiarism will also be printed on media and newspapers at the discretion of head of
the organization.

Relief:

The offender because of the Islamic laws and shariah bench present in this country will able to file an
appeal to the HEC Chairman or may submit a mercy petition within 30 days for relief if deemed
appropriate of any kind.
