What Makes a Problem Or Situation an Ethical Issue

An issue of whether business or personal becomes an ethical matter when it conflicts with any
social, moral philosophies. Therefore, individuals may relate these issues with each other in the
organization or directly with the organization. Sometimes, these issues become illegal since
some of their possible solutions may involve breaching authority expectations. In other cases,
however, these issues may be within the expected standards by the law but prompt adverse
reactions from the affected individuals. Therefore, individuals have the decision to make when
choosing between ethical or unethical sides, which means that the concern is considered to have
a moral basis. Ethical situations consequently have a thin or thick line when choosing between
doing the right or wrong thing at the moment hence the need for codes of ethics.

Relationship Between Business Ethics And Social Responsibility

Business ethics is defined as the form of action and response to the various issues within the
organization regarding the set policies. Therefore, organizational leaders, as well as the other
employees, make decisions daily that have a significant impact on social responsibility, which
later influences social, environmental, and economic outcomes. Some of the aspects that portray
the relationship between the two concepts include environmentally friendly decisions that
eliminate hazardous practices, community support, promoting local products, and the equality of
employees. Besides, stakeholders also contribute to the relationship through a direct and indirect
impact on employees, suppliers, and investors. Furthermore, the policies and activities practiced
within the organization are made out of consideration of business ethics then later have a
substantial impact on social responsibility. Moreover, this is described through marketing,
sponsorship, and corporate philanthropy. As a result, every decision made with or without regard
to the respective business code of ethics, translate to an overall effect on the society at large.
