Verification of the steel girder connection:

For the verification of the connection the following assumptions were considered:
- The maximum tensile axial force in the steel girder resulting from the structural
analysis, as superposition of effects of actions at the ultimate limit states (ULS),
- The participation of the continuous reinforced concrete deck (t=25cm) was
ignored, on the safe side of the design;
- The considered resistance of the connection against the maximum tensile force
NEd=4,35MN is provided by the chemical
- Due to anchoring of the concrete into the piers head, the stiffness at the end of
the steel girder is increased. In this new situation, the design scenario includes
also the verification of the anchors for maximum bending effects which may
appear. For this scope, on the safe side of the connection design, a maximum
bending moment was considered with the value M Ed=4,28MNm with a
corresponding tensile axial force NEd=1,34MN, for the ultimate limit state design
case. These internal forces resulted following the change in the structural model
of the end connection. In this verification the top concrete deck (effective width)
works in compression. The concrete parts which are in tension are ignored.

The results consist in the tensile stress in the reinforcement rebars.

Check of results:
max. σs=309.2MPa < 435MPa (0.71<1.00) – for maximum tensile axial force
max. σs=292.0MPa < 435MPa (0.67<1.00) – for maximum bending moment
The verification is fulfilled.
