Human Resources
Management Assignment #2

First, I would speak with and/or do a survey with the current employees to determine

what is lacking with the personnel records. I know employees might have troubles

understanding the survey being sent out, so I would meet with them one-on-one to make sure I

have proper records on each employee. I want the district to trust me guide this boat down the

correct path. I need to start out on the right foot with my employees and show the school board I

am moving the boat forward.

Then I would reach out to the DPI and other neighboring administrators seeking guidance

and advice it this tough situation. It is important to get in touch with the DPI to make sure the

school is doing everything correctly for its employees. I want to have a clean slate with the DPI

with all my employees records. The neighboring administrators are in the same boat leading

their districts. It is great to work on building connections and relationships with other school

districts to allow communication on issues or situations that arise in them. Everyone has positive

attributes to help surrounding school be a great place to work and learn.

I would designate a competent, trusted individual to organize what personnel records are

available and assess what is needed by recording the data from the survey. It is important to get

the data compiled to set up meetings with those who haven’t filled it out or have done so. I need

the correct information about records that need to submit for all of my employees.

Another step in rectifying this situation would be to reach out to the school auditor to be

brought up to speed with the last audit for the school district. The auditor may have important
information to pass along to help with financial records. I am here to do my job to ensure that

financial records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly. My school district need to run

efficiently by having proper financial operations. We need to have keep track of invoices,

payroll, accounting review, reports, and getting financial advice from our school auditor. I don’t

know everything, so I need to lean on other experts to help with this situation.

Now, after all of that business, I would speak with the school board president individually

about this current situation in the school district. I would want the president to be on the same

page as myself after opening a can of worms about the employee personnel records. Then I

would sit down with the whole school board about the situation and ask for guidance on what

steps should be taken to bring everything into compliance. These people on the school board are

very knowledgeable about how to handle certain situations in a positive manner. Reaching out to

the school board shows you have trust in them to help guide you down the correct path.

We need to remember, nothing happens quickly in education. It is a step by step process

to get back on track for this school district. Using other resources within the school district and

outside of it, will help build the employee personnel records to be compliant. It is tough to start

in a new position in a new school. I will have some bumps along the way and I will be better for

it.

Patience is a virtue in this situation. It took awhile to create the mess the school is in and

it will take awhile to untangle the mess. Working on all of these steps could help untangle the

mess one step at a time. Along the way of cleaning up this situation, I might learn new steps or

strategies to improve how to get the school district floating smoothly with all the employee

records.
