Stress, fears, frustration, joy, pleasure and well-being all constantly influence

the nervous, hormonal and energetic regulatory processes of our bodies. They
therefore cause specific smells reflecting our physical, psychological, and
overall state of health. Research has confinned what the majority of peoples
perceived throughout the various ages: smells reveal the essence of things, the
souls of plants, animals and human beings. This also allows us to understand
how smells from our environ ment can influence our regulative systems, our
energy potential, and therefore our entire state of being.
It is up to each individual to rediscover and use the sense of smell,
the sense which most directly connects us with the nature within us and around
us.
Taking Responsibility for
Our Health

Medical Science: Wisdom or Technology?

The medical science of earlier ages was founded on wisdom know ledge, and
experience. Today it primarily is a sum of highly specialized skills. We have
apparently forgotten the foundation for understanding illness, which is the
process of health, the foundation for our life. We must first know what
enhances our harmony or causes disharmony within us. In order to achieve
healing or at least an improvement of the dis turbed equilibrium, one of the
following approaches can be selected:

 Specialized allopathic medicine;

 Terrain therapies, which means comprehensive approaches of ortho dox
medicine such as homeopathy, phytotherapy, aromatherapy, oligotherapy, and
oriental medicine and so forth;
 Psychosomatic or holistic medicine, which seeks to treat the person as a
whole;
 The art of living in harmony with the laws of life.

At first glance, these four different approaches appear to run in opposite

directions. But in the practice, use is often made of a number of possi bilities
at the same time. On the one hand, we may then have the strong, often complete
dependence on the modem, excessively specialized medi cine. It studies cases,
symptoms and diseases, intensively applying tech nology and laboratory for the
purpose of analyzing life processes.
Contrasting with this is the autonomy of a lifestyle which attempts to live
according to sensible rules of self-awareness and environmental consciousness in
order to become capable of restoring a temporarily impaired equilibrium without
external help; instead, the person adheres to certain rules for living and eating
