Dear Broward County Commission,

My name is Alex Stone from Broward County Mosquito Control. I would first like to
thank you for all you have done to help the community during this difficult time. But, I
would like to bring to your attention a growing problem in both Broward County and the
United States as a whole: mosquito borne illnesses. Over the past couple of years, the
numbers of mosquito borne disease cases have grown significantly, especially in South
Florida. With summer approaching, I think it is imperative that we focus on this issue
since we need to increase our mosquito control efforts. I know, the prime concern
currently is the COVID pandemic, but I am concerned that we will be facing a second
major health issue if we are not proactive. To this end, I am asking the Broward County
Commission to increase funding for mosquito control. The increased funding will be used
to enhance vector control methods with both chemical and biological agents. In addition,
the remaining funds would be used to promote community awareness of mosquito borne
illnesses with a public awareness campaign. Granting the funding would help make the
community safer from these terrible diseases and help prevent further outbreaks from
occurring. I respectfully request that the Commission consider this request. Please contact
me at your earliest convenience via my email ats6@broward.org or you can call me at
123-456-7890. I would be happy to present more information at the next Broward County
Commission meeting scheduled for June 25, 2020. Thank you for your attention to this
matter and I look forward to being able meet with you in person.
Thank you for your time in reviewing this matter.

Sincerely,
Alex Stone,
Broward County Mosquito Control.
