Dear Mr. Payne:
Thank you for meeting with me on September 28, 2007. This letter is written as a
follow-up to our discussion. I feel that we had a productive discussion, and that the
issues discussed will be taken care of immediately. To some extent our conversation
took place because of allegations made in 2002.
In our discussion we talked about the need to avoid physical contact with students,
specifically holding students hands and putting your arm around students. I believe that
your actions were not intentionally harmful, and were most often initiated by the
students. However, this physical contact can often be misunderstood and false
accusations can arise. To avoid such misunderstandings it was agreed upon that you
would discuss the matter mentioned above with your class and explain its
inappropriateness. You also agreed to avoid physical contact with students that could be
construed by others as inappropriate.
Itis my desire to give these directives in order to avoid any appearance of wrong doing.
Failure to follow these directives could result in disciplinary action. Please talk to me if
you have any misunderstandings or concerns. I appreciate your willingness to comply
with the above expectations.
Sincerely,
Sunset Elementary
