MI CÓNYUGE TIENE TRASTORNO BIPOLAR.

YO ERA SU CUIDADOR EN CUARENTENA

Lizzy, a 40-year-old woman, tells of her experience managing the bipolar disorder of
her husband Raul, 44, with whom she has 2 children.

In September 2019, her husband called her attention by saying that she would put a
bullet in her brain, this did not surprise Lizzy since they had been stressed lately, but
she was surprised by how quickly she went from depression to suicide.

She took him to the hospital and gave him to the doctors, she felt that it was one of
the worst moments of her life, how it would affect her marriage and her two youngest
children, ages seven and eleven, but she recognized that it was time to be strong for
her husband.

In March 2020 and with the coronavirus pandemic Raul was diagnosed with depression
and bipolar disorder, but after trial and error they finally managed to stabilize her and
her life began to return to normal.

As Raul got better, Lizzy got worse. It was exhausting for her and she didn't know how
long she was going to take it.

Then one afternoon in mid-April Raul asked him to sell the house, get rid of the
business and move in with the family and start from scratch. She considered that she
could have entered a manic phase.

She says that not all the experience has been bad, there have also been good times,
especially with her children and they have been able to reevaluate their lives.
