Slide 1. Mumbai Attack is the most fiery and weird attack that took place in the Indian History.
The spot was
India’s most famous and royal Hotel group Hotel Taj Mahal which is in the premises of Gateway of India. There was a 64 hours long battle between the Military/police forces and the terrorists. Hotel Taj was the main target which witnessed the death of 100 innocent people who stayed in Taj. Slide 2. The Mumbai attacks were planned and directed by Lashkar-e-Taiba militants inside Pakistan, and carried out by 10 young armed men trained and sent to Mumbai and directed from inside Pakistan via mobile phones. Lashkar-e-Taiba literally Army of the Good is one of the largest and most active extremist Islamist terrorist organizations in South Asia, It was founded in 1987 with funding from Osama bin Laden. Army of the Good uses violence in pursuit of its stated objective of uniting Indian administered Kashmir (IaK) with Pakistan under a radical interpretation of Islamic law. Broader objectives include establishing an Islamic Caliphate across the Indian subcontinent. The members of Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai. Slide 3. Terrorists traveled from Karachi, Pakistan, to Mumbai via boat. Along the way, they hijacked a fishing trawler and killed four crew members, throwing their bodies overboard. The terrorists docked at the Mumbai waterfront near the Gateway of India monument. They hijacked cars, including a police van, and split into at least three groups to carry out the attacks. Slide 4. 2 main tactics - Hit and run and Seize and hold. 1 - Terrorists quickly attacked with AK-47s and grenades. Taxis taken to destination (Grenades left inside). Aimed at large groups. Retreated from security moved on to other target. 2 - Terrorists gained entry and immediately started indiscriminate fire. Hostages taken (Most were killed outright in short time). Established strong points to defend. Slide 5. The Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus was the site of the first attack. At around 9.20 p.m. Kasab and another Pakistani terrorist opened indiscriminate fire into the teeming crowds at the station. The attack lasted about 90 minutes, leaving 58 people dead and over 100 injured. The second attack was reported about 8-10 minutes later -- the Nariman House business and residential complex housing the Jewish outreach centre. Before attacking it, the terrorists blew up a gas station. At around 9.40 p.m., four terrorists struck the upscale and popular Leopold Cafe. They sprayed gunfire on the diners, killing 10 of them. The attack lasted between 10 to 15 minutes. The terrorists also planted bombs in two taxis that killed five people and injured 15. Slide 6. They then proceed to the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel. The terrorists entered the hotel by breaking down a side door. Two of the terrorists entered the hotel through the front door and started shooting and throwing grenades. They killed at least 31 people in this four-day siege. The terrorists set off bombs under the central dome of the Taj Mahal hotel, setting off a massive fire, which later raged through the top floors of the Taj. The Oberoi-Trident Hotel was attacked by two terrorists who entered the hotel through the restaurant, and fired on the crowd. They later moved through the hotel looking for targets. They killed approximately 30 people in a siege that lasted three days. After attacking railway station, Kasab and his fellow terrorist Ismail Khan targeted the Cama Hospital. They arrived at the back gate of the hospital, but the alert hospital staff had locked all the doors. The two men then ambushed a police team outside the hospital and hijacked their jeep. Nine of the gunmen were killed during the attacks, one survived. Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving gunman, was executed in November 2012. Slide 7. At least 174 people died, including 9 attackers, and more than 300 were wounded.
