Legend of the lower lake and upper lake

There is a story passed down from generation to generation about the legend of the
formation of the Twin Lakes, following the story below.

In ancient times there was a niniak (Old Man) named Niniak Gadang Material whose work
was Maarik wood (making boards / stakes). This niniak is very unique, its body is big and its
material is as big as Nyiru's. The material referred to here is the pickaxe / ax (a tool to cut
wood and make boards). Nyiru is a place to place rice that is about 50cmx80cm wide. Every
time he goes to this niniak forest, he doesn't forget to bring his pick.

This niniak eats only once a week, but once eats 1 bushel. To get good wood / boards he
must go up the mountain / forest. After a few days in the forest he will go home with a few
pieces of planks / milestones that have been made and brought to the market for sale. From
the sale of these boards / milestones he revived his family.

One day when this niniak went to the forest, in the middle of the forest where she could
pass closed. This Niniak was shocked, why there are creatures that block his path. This
creature is so large that it closes the landscape. Niniak tried to drive him away but this
creature did not budge, instead attacked again. It turns out that this creature is a large
snake. It is undeniable that the blood of the ancestors directly flows to the whole body of
the niniak, he said: "Opponents are not sought, if they meet abstinence."

A fight broke out between the dragon and the nadang gadang material. The dragon
attacked, Niniak Gadang Material did not stay silent. All abilities possessed by niniak gadang
Material are released. Pickaxe in the hands of Niniak gadang Material reacts, and indeed the
Niniak Gadang Material is very good at playing it, of course silat moves that have ingrained
fleshy by Niniak Gadang Material do not forget to be excluded.

Finally Naga bent his knee and gave up. The dragon ran out of blood because of the young
girl's niniak gadang Material. The Naga Head was almost broken, blood flowed profusely.
Angku Niniak Gadang Material pulled the dragon and threw it with all his might and reached
a valley.

After a long time Angku Niniak Gadang Material came to the valley where the dragon was
thrown. It turned out that Niniak Gadang Material was shocked, the dragon apparently did
not die, he instead symbolized his body in a position to form the number eight, the blood
from the snake's head still flowing so that redden the area.

So that this area becomes an interesting place to visit for Angku, and also the people around

it. But what happened, after a long time the body of this snake began to be buried by the

ground, and between the two snake circles were flooded with water that formed two small

lakes. Over time the lake continues to get bigger, so it forms two large, beautiful bottom

lakes.

According to the story received, two regional names were formed. First is Lembah Gumanti,
which is derived from the word "valley of the dead nan" which is now the name of the
Subdistrict of the second place of this Lake. Then there are those who interpret "the Valley
of Nago and Sakti". The second is an area called "Aia Sirah" (Air Merah). In this area famous
for its red water. It is said that the cause of the red water in the area is blood that continues
to come out of the dragon's head, because until now the dragon is still alive and is still
bleeding.
