The DataOptimizer is a program that follows the Metrologic tradition of

empowering the inexperienced programmer with a large feature set allowing


the user to accomplish in minutes what would require an experienced
programmer several hours to achieve. The DataOptimizer allows the
customer to wirelessly access and modify an ODBC database in real-time
via an Optimus unit.

1) To use the DataOptimizer please ensure that your Optimus unit is running
the appropriate runtime (OptSW-12xx.shx or OptRW-12xx.shx).

2) Please make sure the Optimus is configured for wireless LAN operation (e.g.
TCP/IP address, gateway, server IP address, etc.).

3) Create a program using the Optimizer. Ensure that you are using the
correct terminal type (OptS WLAN or OptR WLAN).

4) Open the DataOptimizer.


5) Select “File -> Open OPW” (Select the program you created in the
Optimizer.

6) Click on “Data Link” button


7) In “Data Link Properties”, select “Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider” (this
provides easy configuration for Microsoft Access databases). Click on the
“Connection” tab.

8) Select and open the appropriate MS Access database.


9) Map the fields of the Lookup Table to the corresponding fields in the
database.

10a) “Link -> Properties”. Set the TCP/IP port for communication with the unit
and the number of client Optimus’ to connect

11) Set any startup or security preferences. “File -> Preferences”.

12) Press the “Connect” button to capture the TCP/IP port and begin
communication.
