CURCI — INTRODUCTION These Short Melodious Studies may be used together with any elementary Violin Method. They have so been arranged as to teach progressively the successive employment of every single finger of the left hand. Thus the beginner will be able to overcome the first difficult steps in regard to the use of the fingers and the bow, while the melodious formation of the Short Studies will facilitate the student in mastering the intonation. In most cases, as in the early Studies, melody has been achieved with a minimun of means. The points where the fingers have to be left resting on the strings have been marked only in the first Studies. Later the pupil must strive to use his own judgment in applying this fundamental rule, Encouraged by the good results of the earlier works I have dedicated to young beginners, I now venture to Present these Studies intended to render intial lessons less arid, and encourage pupils to persevere and improve, A.
