2. On-campus training programmes including paid and specialized
programmes
(i) Guidelines for the conduct of on-campus training programmes
 All on-campus training programmes should be conducted without any deviation to the
schedule already given
 Prior permission should be obtained from the Director of Extension Education if there is a
necessity to re-schedule the programme
 The maximum number of trainees for each programme should be limited to 30.
 Wide publicity should be given for each programme and interested farmers should be
enrolled on first-come-first basis. An enrollment register should be maintained for this
purpose and the format is given in the Annexure (Annexure – 1).
 The stipulated fees for the paid programmes should be collected (in cash only) at the
time of enrollment, and a related receipt should be issued and carbon copy maintained in
the office.
 The fees collected will not be refunded or adjusted for another programme on any
circumstances.
 Each training programme is of two days duration from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM with a tea
break of 15 minutes each in the morning and evening and 60 minutes for lunch.
 Before the start of the training programme the premises including the rest rooms and
other utility areas of the Centre should be kept clean.
 The facilities for training viz., drinking water, audio-visual aids, chairs, dias, etc. should be
arranged and kept ready prior to the start of the programme.
 The Centre should be opened at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the
training programme to receive the farmers who arrive earlier to the Centre.
 All the participating farmers should be registered before the start of the programme.
 A separate on-campus training register should be maintained in every Centre for
registering the farmers. The format for the register is given in the Annexure (Annexure –
2).
 At the start of the programme, a brief introduction about TANUVAS and the Centre
should be given and the farmers should be informed about the schedule of the
programme including guest lectures, demonstrations, screening of video lessons, farm
visits etc., location of rest rooms and drinking water, arrangement of food and
refreshments, safety measures like taking care of themselves, their belongings and
University property and preventive measures against injuries from various equipment,
chemicals, biological, animals etc.
 An introductory session to introduce the faculty and other staff members of the Centre to
the participating farmers and to know about each participating farmer should be
conducted.
 An evaluation on pre-training and post-training knowledge status on the content of the
programme and any shortfalls and grievances should be collected from each participating
farmers.
 Every effort should be taken for the smooth conduct of the training programme without
any discontinuity and distractions to the farmers.
 Suitable arrangement should be made to ensure the presence of the guest speakers at
the stipulated time.
 The staff members of the Centre should be suitably instructed to be courteous to the
participating farmers.
 The lectures, guest lectures, video-screening, field visit, practical and demonstration
sessions should be well planned and structured in such a manner that the participating
farmers are not only engaged constantly during the programme but also provides
constant encouragement.
 An interactive session may be included in every training programme to facilitate farmers
to share their experience.
 One good quality photographs on farmers activities should be taken for each programme.

3. Off-campus training programmes
(i) Guidelines for the conduct of off-campus training programmes
 All off-campus training programmes should be conducted without any deviation to the
schedule already given
 Prior permission should be obtained from the Director of Extension Education if there is
necessity to re-schedule the programme,
 Off-campus training programmes should be of one day duration.
 They may be awareness programmes or demonstrations on specific field adaptable
interventions.
 If it is a demonstration, the maximum participants should be limited to 30 per batch. For
awareness programmes the no. of participants can be about 200.
 The village leaders and the village level officials should be consulted well in advance to
propagate the programme and in identifying the venue of the training programme, making
necessary arrangements for audio-visual aids and other amenities.
 Wide publicity should be given for each programme.
 Before the start of the training programme the premises including the rest rooms and
other utility areas of the Centre should be kept clean.
