Requirements for using GOOGLE MEET
Google Meet is a popular video conferencing tool for businesses across industries. Available for
Android, iOS, and as a Chrome extension, the platform is a quick way to set up virtual
conferences and facilitates calls for up to 250 people per high-definition video conference. It is
the business-oriented version of Google's Hangouts platform and is appropriate for all sizes of
business.
Google Meet isn’t a separate product—it’s part of G Suite, which includes the platform in
addition to a range of useful business apps. Requirements to access Google Meet application,
Google Meet access requirements:

 A G Suite administrator needs to turn on Meet for your organization.


 To create a video meeting, you need to be signed in to a G Suite account.
 To join a video meeting, you need the Meet mobile app or a supported web browser. You
do not need a G Suite account.
 Anyone inside or outside of your organization can join by selecting the link or entering
the meeting ID. Uninvited guests outside of your organization must be approved by a
meeting participant in your organization, including users who aren’t signed in to a G
Suite account.
Video meeting requirements:

 Use a supported operating system


1) Apple® macOS®
2) Microsoft® Windows®
3) Chrome OS
4) Ubuntu® and other Debian-based Linux® distributions
 Use a supported web browser
1) Chrome Browser.
2) Mozilla® Firefox®.
3) Microsoft® Edge®.
4) Apple® Safari®.
Meet has limited support in Microsoft Internet Explorer® 11. By using Microsoft Edge one can
get a better Meet experience. If you want to use Internet Explorer for Meet, you need to
download and install the latest version of the Google Video Support plugin.
Additional hardware and network requirements
1) A broadband connection to the internet. For details, see Prepare your network.
2) A built-in web camera or external USB camera. Other devices, such as virtual
cameras, might not work with Meet.
3) 2.2 GHz Intel 2nd-generation i3/i5/i7, AMD equivalent or better, processor to
support HD video.

Google Meet Features


1. Jamboard
Jamboard is an interactive whiteboard developed by Google, as part of the G Suite family. It has
a 55" 4K touchscreen display, and has compatibility for online collaboration through cross-
platform support. The display can also be mounted onto a wall or be configured into a stand.
2. Grid View Extension
There is a free Chrome extension called "Google Meet Grid View" that allows to see everyone in
the meeting, no matter how many people there are.
3. Calendar
You can schedule a video meeting from Google Calendar. Or, start a new video meeting on the
fly from Google Meet or Gmail by using computer only.
4. Chat Box
You can send messages during a meeting to the other video call guests from a computer or
mobile device.
5. Attendance
As you start your Meet, you can enter a list of expected invitees and the extension will
automatically detect who joined the call. You can also save multiple class lists.
6. Fireflies Meeting Recorder, Transcribe, Search
Fireflies is yet another essential Chrome extension for people working from home and attending
online meetings or classes. This extension completely takes away the need to take notes, so you
can focus your entire concentration on being present in the meeting.
7. Video, Video Conferences & Screen share (bandwidth is not a matter)
The Meet extension allows Chrome Users to host or join Video and Voice conferences, screen
share anything on your desktop, live share any documents and remote control another desktop. It
lets members white-board as well as easily annotate files.
8. Security & Privacy
Google Meet has many features to help protect your data and safeguard your privacy such as
privacy & compliance, encryptions, anti-abuse measures, secure deployment, access & control,
incident response, safety best practices.
