Kick away your Limiting Behaviors and Produce Amazing Results

Our Behaviour is consistent with the images of our mind.

Consciously most of us know that what should be done and what should not be done but
most of the time we find ourselves doing the reverse. NLP says that this happen because
there are two types of learning - the conscious learning & the unconscious learning. In
spite of our conscious knowledge, many a times we feel powerless when it comes to
controlling habits or behaviors.

Behaviors or habits are the results of the neural pathways created in the Unconscious
mind. If you want to change any behavior of yours, you will need to change these Neural
Pathways by changing the programming of your unconscious mind. This can be
wonderfully done by the NLP Technique called SWISH.

Let's first understand what actually a Neural Pathway is? Suppose you go to a restaurant
for the first time and if most of its seats are vacant you will need to choose a seat for
yourself to get seated. Now you visit the same restaurant again after a few days and if the
seat on which you sat the last time is vacant, what will happen is that you will
automatically choose it for yourself. This happens because initially a neural pathway got
created & once it gets created your unconscious mind prefers to follow the same pathway
in the similar situation. There exist neural pathways for all our behaviors whether it be
Brushing Teeth, Bathing, Driving, Sleeping, getting Angry or anything else.

You would definitely like to change the behaviors that might be irrelevant for you. To
fulfill this wish of yours the wonderful NLP Technique Swish exists. Swish is based on the
base concept that every behavior has a neural pathway and if this neural pathway is
replaced with a new neural pathway, the person adopts a new behavior. There always
exist a picture, a sound or feeling that acts as the trigger for the behavior. In Swish
Technique, we create & link the neural pathway of a new and more relevant behavior
with the same trigger, resulting in the change of behavior at the unconscious level.

Let me guide you through the steps of application of this wonderful NLP Technique.

Before getting started with the technique -

1. Choose a behavior that you would like to change (e.g. getting angry in a particular
situation)
2. Think of the behavior that you would like to adopt in place of the previous
behavior (eg. remain calm).

3. Choose a comfortable position to be seated and relax.

Steps of the Swish technique -

1. There is always a visual, an audio, a feeling or a picture that has the combination
of all three that triggers the behavior. This is called the first picture. Identify this
trigger picture & put it aside on your mental screen.
2. Change your physiology by shaking yourself or your head and say your name's
spelling in reverse order [This is called Breaking the state in NLP].
3. Now, you have to make a visual movie of the behavior that you would like to adopt.
So, see yourself with the new behavior, see the images very clear and colorful. Add
wonderful sounds to this visual mental movie, might be some compliments you
may get from the relevant people in your life. Create wonderful feelings and feel
them to the deepest level of your existence. Make this complete mental move full
of colors, wonderful sounds in a wonderful tone of voice and wonderful feelings.
4. See all the benefits that you will be getting because of your new behavior, see the
positive side effects of your new behavior in other areas of your life.
5. See all the problems or limitations that you will be overcoming that were being
caused by the previous behavior and feel the lightness you are enjoying now.
6. Now, start shrinking this video into a small dot. Once it becomes a small dot, check
if there is any objection within yourself for this new behavior. If there is no such
objection, jump to the next step. But if it exists, ask yourself - what's the positive
intention of my unconscious mind that was being addressed by my previous
behavior? Find the answer and now visualize how your new behavior will be
fulfilling this positive intention.
7. Expand your shrunk dot to its original size and once again relive the entire mental
movie. Feel it very closely and deeply. Once it's done, shrink it again into a small
dot and see this dot going far away to the horizon.
8. Now, bring that old picture back on your mental screen. So as this picture is
between you & the horizon.
9. See that the dot is coming towards you from the horizon with a high speed and it
is hitting the old picture from behind. The old picture is bursting and tearing into
pieces.
10. Repeat the above steps 8 & 9 for a minimum of 10 times.
11. Now check your feelings & find how much motivation you feel for the new
behavior.
12. Break the state once again by changing your physiology by shaking yourself or
your head and say your name's spelling in reverse order.

13. Now visualize yourself in the same situation & observe that whether you feel
motivated to adopt the same old behavior or the new one.
14. If you feel temptation for the old behavior then you need to repeat the entire steps
once more.

Once you do this NLP technique successfully, you will find an automatic shift in your
choice of behaviors and hence enjoy better control over your life.
