INTRODUCTION

This is Pulsar Multimídia’s program used to edit and send information to the RDS
equipment.
You will be able to decide which information will be displayed on it, the speed and the
frequency.

Use this icon to open the program:

You will see the following screen:

CONFIGURING

Click on Setup to configure the program. The options will be:

Folder

When you click on Folder you will see the following screen:

Click on the yellow folder on the right side and select the folder PULSAR RDS, created by
the Live module in the C:\ directory of the on air computer.
This will be the folder where RDS Redispatch will search for information about the song
and the artist name.

Language

When you click on Language, you will have three options. Select the language you want to
work on:

Serial

The option Serial contains three configuration options: Basic, Timers and Advanced.
Normally, you have to configure only the option Basic, ignoring the others. In case there is
no communication between the software and the RDS encoder, contact Pulsar Multimidia
technical support before editing the Timers and Advanced options.

Basic:

It configures the communication between the software and the RDS encoder. You can find
these parameters in the encoder manual and the fields below must be filled with the same
values.

Timers:

It configures the communication delay. You do not need to configure these fields.

Advanced:

It defines the size of the information sent to the RDS encoder as well as the error and
events checking.

Protocol

There are three protocol options. Choose the one that your RDS equipment uses.

Program

When you click on Program, you will be able to choose up to two programs for the display
of information:

PS = Programme Service
RT = Radiotext

CREATING A SEQUENCE

RDS Redispatch works by following a pre-defined sequence of information, which may

contain the station’s name, phone number or address, song or artist’s name or even the
show or the DJ’s name on air.
Let’s create a sample:

Click on the button .

Click on the button New and type a name for the new sequence.
- In the first field, type the duration, in seconds, for the item’s presentation on the RDS
equipment
- In the second field, add the text to be displayed.

Press Enter or click on the icon to insert the text in the program.

There are some key words which can be used for
some pre-defined information:

SONG – It displays the song’s name of the song on air.

TIME – It displays the current time.
TEMPERATURE – It displays the outside temperature* (You will need hardware for that).
SHOWNAME – It displays the show or the DJ’s name on air.
This is the sample we created

The first column represents the visualization time, in seconds, for each item of the
sequence.
The second one brings the item itself.
Thus, the song’s name would be displayed for 4 seconds, then the phrase PULSAR FM –
THE BEST for 4 more seconds and finally the show name on air for 4 seconds.

You can preview the information at the bottom of the program.

Interval refers to the display speed, in milliseconds.

To create other sequences, follow the same instructions.

Reopen the program every time the information is edited.

REGISTERING THE PROGRAMS

In case you want the show or the DJ’s name to be displayed (keyword = SHOWNAME),
you have to register all the programs aired on the radio stations during the whole week.

To register the programs, fill in the fields with the starting and the ending time of each
program as well as the show or the DJ name. The first day to be created is Sunday. Do the
same with the other days of the week.
Summarizing: every time the program’s sequence reaches the SHOWNAME item, it will
look at the information you created here.

HOW TO OPERATE
You can create several sequences, but only one will be used at a time.

To define a sequence as standard, click on the button and then on the folder ,
and select which sequence will be the standard. Close the program and reopen it to see
the changes.
