1. "Infections adversely influence perinatal mortality". Discuss this


statement and the role of antenatal screening for infections.

2. Discuss the prevention of urinary fistulae in gynaecological practice.

3. A young professional couple, married for 4 years, present for the first time
with non-consummation due to excessive pain at penile vaginal penetration.
The menstrual history is normal. Systemic enquiry of both partners is normal.
Discuss your management.

Answer all six questions.


Each question to be answered in a separate book.

1. Outline giving reasons, the management of a HIV positive woman in


her first pregnancy.

2. You are summoned to see a primigravida who has been in second stage of
labour for one hour. Describe how you would assess and complete the
delivery with obstetric forceps.

3. Discuss how you would diagnose dysfunctional uterine bleeding in a 45


year old woman. Critically assess the role of endometrial ablation in this
patient.

4. Briefly discuss the strategies available for the prevention and screening
of malignant epithelial ovarian tumors.

5. Outline giving reasons the methods available for prevention and


management of haemorrhage during gynaecological pelvic surgery.

6. A 28 year old primigravida at 36 weeks of gestation is admitted with


antepartum haemorrhage due to placental abruption with absent foetal
heart sounds. She is pale, BP 70/50 mmHg with weak pulse. Outline
the possible complications due to transfusion of blood and blood
products in this patient.
