“Should Teachers Rely on Modern Technological

Innovations in the Teaching Process”

Nowadays it is known that everybody is included in the

modern technology world no matter whether they like it or not.
The technology is normal for the incoming new generations but
for the older ones – they’re not so happy when modern times are
mentioned, not to forget the fact that there is always something
new to learn because of the increasing interest and changes
which are made with the technology. The teachers, who belong
in the middle aged generation, are mainly on target.
Not born with this ‘advantage’, but developing through the
years, they are made to learn it. In some ways it can be said that
this is a good idea. We can take for consideration one class that
we have and our parents had in the past. The difference is that,
the class can be made more interesting, those slide shows
presentations can be a good way for a child to be motivated for
further progress, and also, a desire for that kind of presentation
to be made by themselves, may appear. Songs are to be played,
movies are to be watched, and many other different kinds of fun
ways for learning are to be presented. The children are going to
be looking forward to going in school, because hey, today I’m
going to be the presenter and everyone will be pleased to look at
me and, wait, let’s play a game, the best presenter is going to a
competition and whoever has made the most interesting
presentation wins! We had that interesting part there, but let’s
not forget that not only middle school children are going to have
this advantage of using the technology.
On the other hand, we forgot to mention the cons, but here
they come. We said that teachers are made to learn the
computers because without them they can’t find a job. That’s
unfortunately true, but it’s not as good as it seems. The new
‘law’ is ‘made’ for the teaching to become easier and much
more interesting, but many of the teachers and high school
children are abusing this possibility for going further, instead,
with their actions they’re going backwards. This can be an
example for these modern children who are not paying attention
to the presentation, but chatting and cheating via Facebook. The
teachers can be put in a very dangerous position of losing their
job because as it was mentioned above, they’re new learners and
relying that much on the technology, they forget that the
children are already used to this kind of ‘living’. The tests which
will probably be held in some folder in the teachers’ computer,
can easily be hacked by some student, the presentations can be
changed and some vulgar content can be added, grades can be
changed and few others which the teacher will not be so happy
to hear it had happened to him. Also, the teacher may abuse this,
there is nothing worse than non interested professor who doesn’t
take care of whether the children will learn or not, and not
making that much effort to make the class interesting. But
instead, looking or literally reading from the slide show and ‘my
job over here is done, you’re free to go home now and study’.
In conclusion and in my opinion, yes, it is a good innovation
in schools, but we students have to make our teachers to realize
that we’re going to love the class more if the teacher pays us
more attention than to the computer. Or I can say – use it but
don’t abuse it.
