(i) The Certificate of Competency as Master Mariner Class | or (ii) The Certificate of Competency as Marine Engineer Class 1 (Steam and Motor) or (ii) The Certificate of Competency as Marine Engineer Class I (Motor only) issued in accordance with Regulation IV/2 or IIl/2 of the Intemational Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention). To be responsible for the development of quality seafarers through training of officers in all categorics of ratings in the maritime sector and the delivery of courses which are in conformity with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention). 1. To be responsible for the proper running of the Mauritius Maritime Training Academy. 2, To design, develop, co-ordinate and implement maritime education and training programmes in accordance with the International Conver Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for (STCW Convention) and other maritime conventions to which Mat party and for personnel of fishing vessels, work boats, tugs and pleasure crafts. 3. To interact with other maritime institutions in the implementation of refresher/training programmes. 5. To assist in establishing the necessary infrastructural facilities for the training of seafarers and officers. 6. To establish contacts with training institutions abroad 7. To organise seminars/talks to publicise the activities of the Academy. 8, To teach, as and when required, 9. Touse ICT in the performance of his duties. 10. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Principal, Mauritius Maritime Training Academy in the roles ascribed to him.
