ANALYSIS: STUDY IN D by BERTINI

This composition is in ternary form (ABA1), the key is D minor on section A and
modulate to B minor in the B section. The section A1 returns in D but major.
The style of the piece is romantic.
The piece start with a piano for the entire A section, on B section instead start a
crescendo from the bar 10 to the bar 20 then a diminuento to return to pianio on
A1 section that start with piano and on the bar 28 does a crescendo to finish the
piece with forte.
The thematic connection is the rhythmic cell composed of two quavers and a minim
that are on the bar 1 and return on the B section than on the bar 3 there is a group
of 1/8 notes that return to bar 14 and 16 in B section and again for the entire
section A1.
The left hand on A section does legato quarter notes than in section B start staccato
quarter notes and in the section A1 returns legato but in eight notes.
The left hand solution makes the accompaniment like a crescendo, starting in
section A legato then adding staccato and more note on the end of section B and
doubling the notes on section A1.
The unusual features are the repetition of the notes and the fortissimo in section B.
