Introduction
Employees are the prime production factor and working force of an organization. To make an
organization able to achieve its goals and objective, skilled employees are too much needed. In
today's competitive business environment employees should be effective and efficient with their
skills based on the organizations work nature and requirements to make their job done properly.
There may arise various types of situations in an organization, the skilled employee can face and
handle those situations in an effective manner. They can also play their roles and responsibility
properly with their employment skills. For this management should hire an effective and efficient
employee based on job nature and responsibility, they should also be trained to make them more
effective and up to date with their duties and responsibility. Motivation is another important
factor to maximize output from the employees. Management should keep concern on this issue
too. Without a properly skilled employee, management could not be able to achieve its targeted
output. From my practical work experience on Health and Social Care Department, I am here
presenting reflective summery.
LO1: Determination of a set of own responsibilities and performance
objectives
1.1 Developing a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
Organizations hire an employee with some job specification, the employee performs their duties
based on these and set a standard for his/her own. In an organization, every employee has some
specified duties and responsibilities they should try to perform this in an effective and efficient
manner. In Health and Social Care Department I had some responsibility. The main objective
was to provide quality services to the users and make them more concern about health issues.
Perform the various task to make people aware of and support them on health care issues. To
ensure effective and efficient performance I tried to make self-management. Self-management
helps me to employ my skills, knowledge, and ability on my task in a proper manner. It was the
key duty and responsibility to provide quality services to the users with treating them equally.
1.2 Evaluating own effectiveness against defined objectives
Though it is not easy to evaluate the effectiveness of an employee, it is needed to evaluate one’s
performance against defined objectives. There have many criteria to evaluate effectiveness. An
employee’s performance can be evaluated to make a comparison between his/her performance
and desired performance. By this management can easily get a picture of the performance level
of an employee. In above I mentioned my responsibilities and performance objectives, here an
evaluation of my effectiveness against defined job is being mentioned. In Health and Social
Care Department, there has consistency in working process and delivering services, I always
tried to keep this consistency in my work too. I report my activities to the management from time
to time and received further requirements from management if needed. It helped me to perform
my duties properly. The users and clients came to this department with their various types of
need and demand, determining their needs I tried to provide them quality services to them. There
also need proper cooperation and coordination and the related bodies to make the work done
properly. This is also done in an effective manner.
1.3 Recommendation for improvements
Some recommendations are mentioned here to improve performance or effectiveness of
employees and working processes-
Adaptability: There may arise various changes in the organization, or the organization may have
to face various types of situation, to make adaptation with these changes and situations, there
need more effective and efficient employees. Moreover, various types of people come here to
receive services there also need adaptability to manage them and deliver them services.
Review management: The management should review its working process time to time with
receiving feedback and responses from the working force and other related bodies.
Improve employees’ skills: By training and taking other related steps, the employees should be
trained properly to make them more efficient and up to date with their job. This can help the
organization to maximize its output.
Evaluating opportunities: To improve organizational performance, sometimes employees can
generate various ideas based on their working experience in the organization. Management
should evaluate these ideas and practice these for organizational improvement.
Increase coordination and cooperation: The coordination among department to department,
employee to employee helps an organization to achieve its goal more effectively. So, there has
needed to increase coordination and cooperation among various part of the organization.
Monitoring and feedback: Monitoring the performance of social and health care workers are
needed and stimulate them to improve their working process by the management is needed.
1.4 Reviewing motivational techniques to improve the quality of performance
Motivation can stimulate employees to maximize their output. This helps to increase productivity
and quality of performance. Motivational techniques can be classified into two categories-
Financial and non-financial. Various types of motivational techniques in being discussed in
bellow-
Monetary motivator: Money is the first priority to stimulate employees in their work. Various
types of monetary motivator like a bonus, profit sharing, increasing salary, monetary reward, etc.
make an employee more motivated to increase their productivity and output.
Recognition: Recognize employees for their work and performance motivate employees to put
the best effort into their works. So, employees should be recognized and praised for their work.
Cooperation in the basic leadership process: Physical and mental interest in the basic
leadership procedure of the association can persuade workers to expand the exhibition of gifted
representatives.
Social status: Social status is a physiological factor that satisfies one’s egoistic needs. It is a
symbol that indicates a higher post of employees.
Competition: Making competition among the employees for a certain task can increase their
productivity. When an employee competes with his colleges for a task, he always tries to put his
best performance for getting the reward.

2.1 Developing solutions to work-based problems
Solutions of work-based problems of the Health and Social care department is being discussed in
bellow-
Identification of the problem: Before going for a solution, it is needed to identify the problem.
Problem identification and the background behind this problem is being defined here.
Analyze the problem: Then the problem is being analyzed. The nature of the problem and the
reason behind this problem is being discussed in this stage.
Diagnose the causes of the problem: After identify and analyze the problem, based on the
findings and data in this stage the cause of this problem is being diagnosed.
Affirm with others that they comprehend the issue: An association is a blend of different
division or department. All tasks are interrelated among these offices. Along these lines, when an
issue emerges it likewise makes associations with different departments. That is the reason it is
required for the administration to illuminate others division about the issue to cause it to
comprehend. In the wake of recognizing the issue, the administration should find a way to tackle

communication style. There has a huge use of this communication style not only in professional
perspective but also in personal life.
Formal & Informal Communication: Formal and informal communications are two types of
communication where formal communication indicates the official communication process on
the hand informal communications are communications but there has nothing about the official.
Visual Communication: Sometimes communication happens between two parties visually. The
organization uses visual communication styles to express their information and ideas better in
front of targeted persons.

Time management systems are a powerful methodology which encourages a person to deal with
