etude repertoire. Music Majors must choose four selections from the following list,
while non-majors should choose at least three:

2. From Lincolnshire Posy (Grainger), Mvt. II “Horkstow Grange” [Page 3]
3. From First Suite in Eb (Holst), Mvt. I [Page 3]
4. From Symphony in Bb (Hindemith), Mvt. I [Page 4]
5. From The Nutcracker Ballet (Tchaikovsky) [Page 5]
6. From Festive Overture (Shostakovich) [Page 5]
7. Etude: 40 Studies # 15 [Page 6]
Clarinetists may also prepare an excerpt (1-3 minutes) from a solo or etude of their
choice to perform at the audition. This solo may be on bass clarinet or Bb clarinet.
Practice tips from Dr. Ellis: You will need to practice slowly and carefully. Think
about build up the tempo slowly with great musical expression. You should pay
close attention to the following while you practice and perform: tone quality,
