Brunel UNIVERSITY WEST LONDON School of Engineering and Design SEDO06: Examinations Cover Sheet SUBJECT AREA: Mechanical Engineering / AMEE Module Code: ME5503 Module Title: Advanced Computer Aided Engineering Date-Month: MAY Year: 2009 Time allowed — Hours: 3 hours plus 10 minutes of reading time Answer-questions: Any FIVE questions from both sections. Answer each section in a separate booklet Only School approved calculators are allowed. Examiner(s): Dr S Sivaloganathan and Dr Joe Au Special Stationery Requirements: Graph Paper SECTION A Question 1 (@) Explain how the point (x, y) can be expressed in homogeneous coordinates. (4 Marks) (b) Consider Figure Q1. The point P (a,b) is given a rotation by an angle 0 about an axis parallel to the z axis (normal to the paper) and passing through the fixed point F (x,,y,). The final position of the point is QG.y).
