Hi Liz – I have practiced on all the above topics. Does this cover all the
difficulty levels of the Listening exam?

These are exercises, not tests. You need to get the IELTS Cambridge test
books which are real tests published by IELTS so you can get used to the real level of
the test.

Hi Liz,

First of all thank you for all your lessons. Your videos and practice tests are really helping
me a lot. I have a doubt in question number 3. I was confused between options a and c.

9/26/2019 Multiple Choice Question in IELTS Listening
Can you please explain me why the correct answer will not be (c). a car park down the
road.

Thanks,

Shams

“a car park” is a noun which is a usually a place designated for people to

park their cars. The listening lessons does not say anything at all about using a car
park. The recording does talk about parking a car – the word “park” is used as a verb,
not a noun. You need to learn the difference between parking a car on a street and a car
park.

After I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are
added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I get four emails with the
identical comment. Is there any method you possibly can remove me from that service?
Thanks!

These lessons are for developing skills for IELTS. To assess your level and
understand the diffculty level in IELTS, do a free practice test. But remember, there are
not many free practice tests available so use it wisely. Do it under exam conditions in
your own home: h ps://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/prepare-test/free-practice-tests

why it is so hard for me to catch every single word .I think listening will be my
big obstacle than any other skill . what’s to do ??

Reply

Liz says
January 14, 2018 at 2:39 pm

That is the problem. You are trying to catch every word. Don’t. Your aim
isn’t to catch every word. Your aim is to listen for answers.

Hey!
“which is means I’ll have to pass on the cheesecake I’m affraid”
should be ” Which means …” no “is” right?
sorry to be a bother 🙂

Reply

Liz says

That’s right. So the answer is B.

Liz

Nawar says
July 27, 2015 at 4:42 pm

I’m sorry, but what I mean is, in the transcript, there should be no “is”
after “which”.
So it is “which means”
and not “which is means”.
Or am I wrong?

Hi Liz,
Thanks for all the useful lessons. I have been ge ing 6.5 in listening 🙁 would you please
advice how can I improve my listening. I have an exam pre y soon. Thanks for your help.

Liz says

Make sure you write a list of paraphrases which are used in all listening
exercises. Having good paraphrasing skills is essential for IELTS. Go through the
answers in all lessons carefully to make sure you see the paraphrases and understand
how IELTS test your language skills. Have a strategy for all question types in listening.
Work on improving your skills for section 1 to aim for about 9 correct answers. Sections
1 and 2 should have more answers correct than 3 and 4. In academic listening, work on
following the recording and keeping your place.
Good luck
Liz
