Conductivity cel calibration id ‘The design of the conductivity cell such as size, shape, position and cell condition determines the conductivity measured and is reflected in cell constant K. ‘Any minor change in any of these parameters such as size, shape, position and condition of the cell changes the cell constant. Variations are also seen from one sensor to other even if the design cell constant is the same. In these practical conditions it is necessary to calibrate the conductivity cell regularly with the help of standard conductivity solutions. the process of calibration we find out the exact cell constant: ‘The transmitter notes down this value and uses this during further calculations. This phenomenon is still amplified on ultrapure water conductivity measurements (conductivity < 10yS/cm). The lab reading and the on line instrument reading will never match in this case. ‘The online instrument is subjected to the actual process conditions Such as process temperature, stray voltages, process pressure, supply voltage variations etc. The lab instrument works at set standard conditions. Some are added, the temperature of the lab sample changes and the differences are seen between both readings. How to minimize the gap in readings? You can check both the Lab and On-line instruments by using the same standard solution and comparing the readings If not matching , calibrate both the instruments using the same standard solution Ensure both the instrument use cells with same constant Different cell constants give different accuracy levels } _Use single point calibration method to match the readings.
