Star diagnose C4 can be connected to laptop by Wlan, that makes it to be very
convenient.

This article is telling customers why we have to update & downgrade the firmware of
Mercedes Star diagnose C4 and other tips of using it.

Most important: Before updating or downgrading, you have to ask your supplier whether
your Mercedes Star diagnose C4 firmware can be update or not. Because the firmware of
some MB STAR C4 can not be updated or downgraded otherwise the mux will be locked
and you can not use it anymore.But all MUX from OBDMORE.COM can be update &
downgraded for any version xentry.

Why we have to update & downgrade the firmware of MB STAR C4?

This is because different xentry & das need different firmware in mux. For example, the
3.2015 xentry needs CSD 2.3 and OS 2.10,but the 9.2014 xentry needs firmware to be
CSD 2.3 and OS 2.08. The xentry appears below error if firmware and xentry does not
matched

Step 1. Please watch below photo. Take off the cover of mux and open the battery lock.
You will need 6 pcs new #5 battery each one is 1.5V. Make sure you have brand new
battery otherwise you maybe get update failed because of voltage is not enough. Be
careful + and -, do not make it mixed.
Step 2.
You will find the mux powered up after installing battery. Now connect Mercedes Star
Diagnose C4 to car or 12V power by using OBD cable and connect to laptop by LAN
cable.

Step 3.
You will find the icon 21 is light on after well connected. If not, check the IP setting of your
laptop. We usually use IP as 172.29.127.119

Step 4
Double click the number 21 and then choose CONFIGURATION and then click MUX. And
then you will find 4 options,click the last one “ Software update
Then you will find below interface.

Choose the option one: 00_ClearCeFlashDisk.zip, and then click START. Wait it to be up
dated and close the SDCONNECT TOOLKIT.
Step 5.
Open the DAS or xentry and go to test the car (if you did not connect MB STAR C4 to car,
just choose a car style randomly). And now the Xentry will update firmware automatically
.

Sometimes software still show error codes after updating.

Do not worry, it has something else need to be updated.Just click OK and press F3 to
test. Software will update firmware again.

Normally, the mux will be ok after updating CSD and PMPIC29. Then we go to use
Mercedes Star Diagnose C4 to test car. Check below
After updating, you can check the firmware version from mux. Click key ! 3 times and you
can find the firmware version of MB Star C4.

Please do not forget take off the battery after updating & downgrading. Mercedes Star
Diagnose C4 is vampire of battery!!
