GOVERNMENT OF SIKKIM DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL ‘TASHILING SECRETARIAT GANGTOK-737101 ‘No, 113/GEN/DOP Dated; 11/03/2020 NOTIFICATION Rules 100 and 102 of the Sikkim Government Service Rules, 1974 contain the provision for extension of service and re-employment of a Government employee beyond the age of retirement on superannuation respectively, provided it is satisfied that such extension or re-employment is in the interest of Government service and that the Government employee is physically and mentally fit to continue in the service. It has been observed that the Government employees are submitting requests for extension of service. The Departments are also routinely recommending such cases on the basis of individual’s request, without justifying the need for continuation of their service. Such practice is unhealthy and unproductive, leading to burden on the State exchequer. It has therefore been decided that the practice of considering individual/personal request for extension of service/re-employment of a Government employee beyond the age of retirement on superannuation shall be completely stopped w.e.£. 1* April, 2020. All Heads of the Department/Secretaries are requested to strictly comply with these instructions By Order and in the name of the Governor.
