As observed in Calinan ,Tugbok, Bunawan, Panacan and Agdao of Davao City’s Zoning

Map, there are Light to Heavy Industrial zones classified areas, yet it has become
residential areas recently. The negative effects to the health of the resident’s, exposure
to the pollutant, leakage of toxic gases into buildings, and groundwater pollution may
damage one’s physical and mental health.

Another is the Agricultural zone of Calinan and Mintal where many residents are also
building their homes despite being classified as agricultural zone and almost 80 poultry
and piggery farms are located. News from previous years was about the residents’
complaints to fly infestations in the area. Housing subdivisions should not have been
allowed there in the first place as it has been identified as an agricultural area. I suggest
Davao City should be very strict on this since physical and mental health of Davaoeños
are at stake on this issues.
