Strategies for Daily Life

The Encyclopedia Britannica (no date) defined strategy in warfare as ‘the science or art of employing all
the military, economic, political, and other resources of a country to achieve the objects of war’. BBC
Earth (2017) show the hunting strategy of Darwin`s bug spider. The spider can send its silk fibers until 25
m away by the wind to build a bridge and sets its trap by using the bridge as a web with 2 m diameter.
By this strategy, it can hunt bugs flying on a river. Companies and people have their own strategies to
reach their aims.

A personal strategy for our daily life is variable according to the environment that we live in. For
example, there are periodic economic crises with devaluations in Turkey. Akpinar (2012) gives a list of
the economic crises. 1988, 1991, 1994, 1998, 2001 crises and the current devaluation in 2018 are the
samples from the last 30 years. Hence, not to be in a big debt and not to borrow money from foreign
currencies are important living strategies for Turkey.

Growing technology changes the working environment. Some professions are dying while new ones
born. The others are changing. Continuous learning is a living strategy to stay updated for contemporary
conditions. To follow technological magazines, to attend some educations are sample activities to realize
the strategy. Also, networking by establishing new relations and keep old ones alive is another strategy
for business development.
