Describe four (4) roles of the Malaysian government in industrial relations.
1. Legislator
Through the parliament (legislating laws).
2. Administrator
Through the ministry of human resources (enforcing labour legislations).
3. Participant
Through minister of human resources (in the NLAC and CCIH).
4. Employer
The largest in the country (public sector).

QUESTION 2
Explain two (2) powers of registered trade unions.
1.To run activities or perform roles
2. To spend a trade unions funds.

QUESTION 3
Discuss three (3) employees' prohibited acts as stipulated in Section 7 of the Industrial
Relations Act, 1967. (10 marks)
a) Persuading employees to join or not to join a TU without employers consent, at his place
of business and during working hours.
b) Intimidating or threatening a person to become or not to become or continue to be or stop
being a member or an officer of a TU.
c) Inducing a person not to become or to stop being a member of an officer of a TU by
conferring or procuring any advantage on or for any reason or even offering to do so.
QUESTION 4
Explain four (4) importance of union recognition to a trade union. (10 marks)
Trade union has the power to force employer to listen to the union members grievances,
claims and suggestions.
