IT sector in India is growing fast and it has largest market share in global services sourcing
industry.IT sector has a share of nearly 8% in India’s GDP.Around 4.36 million employees
are working under IT sector. Major two components of IT sector is IT services and business
process outsourcing. Major information technology hubs in India are
Bangalore,Chandigarh,Chennai,Hyderabad,pune.

STRENGTH
 Availability of large number of talented and motivated professionals
 Cost savings in india can be accounted in labour, capital and labour management
areas.
 Government support
 Round-the clock benefit for western companies due to 12 hours’ time difference.
 Quality and maturity of process
 Expertise in new technologies and strong tertiary education
 Indian IT professionals are good at English speaking.

WEAKNESS
 High rate of attrition. Many are quitting their jobs for pursuing higher studies. They
are more career oriented than company oriented.
 Excessive dependence on some countries for revenue. If any kind of issues arise
between countries, it will badly affect people working in IT field.
 Infrastructure for IT sector need to be improved.

OPPURTUNITIES

 Indian domestic market growth can be achieved


 Reasonable technical innovations can be brought in.
 India can be branded as a quality IT destination
 Scope for product innovation
THREATS
 Competition from other countries. There is competition within asia as well as from
developed countries like US.
 Corruption and piracy.
 Global economic slowdown .Due to this pandemic situation in the world, economy of
countries are going down, which affects IT sector also.

CONCLUSION
Capitalising the strength of information technology sector in India and converting every
opportunities India can become the biggest IT hub across the world. More employee
opportunity will be created and it directly boost India’s GDP growth rate. We also need to
look up the weakness in this field and should need to change in coming years.
