醜小鴨
鴨媽媽在池塘邊孵蛋,不久後,鴨寶寶都誕生了,但只有 1 顆好大的蛋沒
有孵出來,鴨媽媽心想,這顆蛋可能要多孵幾次才能孵出來,過了沒多久,蛋
終於孵化了,結果小鴨們看到自己的弟弟孵出來的模樣七嘴八舌地說 :「怎麼那
麼醜?」「對呀!怎麼跟我們不一樣?」鴨媽媽叮嚀小鴨們:「無論他是否跟
你們不一樣,都是媽媽的心肝寶貝,不可以欺負他,知道嗎?」但是小鴨們完
全不聽媽媽的話,硬要欺負這個和牠們不一樣的弟弟,還給這小鴨取名為「醜
小鴨」,不只這樣,連鴨子親戚們都嫌醜小鴨長得太難看,要鴨媽媽把他趕走
儘管親戚們這麼說,鴨媽媽依然疼愛著醜小鴨。
醜小鴨不願看到媽媽難過,決定離開池塘,踏上他的流浪之旅。走著走著 ,
就在快要餓昏時,牠找到 1 間屋子,很有禮貌地上前敲門,這時走出 1 位老婆
婆,醜小鴨拜託老婆婆給他一點食物,老婆婆看醜小鴨很可憐,決定讓他在這
裡住,但到了晚上,老婆婆養的貓和母雞就來刁難醜小鴨說:「你會生蛋還是會
抓老鼠?如果什麼都不會,你就不可以在這白吃白喝。」醜小鴨沒有辦法,只
好離開老婆婆家繼續流浪,隔天醜小鴨來到 1 座湖泊,看見 1 群美麗優雅的天
鵝展開翅膀飛行,醜小鴨看到這幕景象羨慕地說:「如果我也可以這麼美麗,那
該有多好?」
結果,寒冷的冬天來臨,醜小鴨被凍在結冰的湖上,動彈不得便昏倒了,
後來被 1 位樵夫救起。到了樵夫家,醜小鴨看見樵夫的小孩走過來,醜小鴨以
為樵夫的小孩想要欺負牠,於是到處亂跑,把樵夫家弄得亂七八糟,樵夫的妻
子很生氣,便把牠趕出去,醜小鴨只好在湖邊的洞穴度過寒冬。到了隔天,溫
暖的春天來臨,醜小鴨走了出來,這時牠看見之前那幾隻天鵝,天鵝們想要過
來找醜小鴨,但這時醜小鴨又以為天鵝們想要欺負牠,拚命要跑走,結果牠看
見湖面上自己的身影,原來牠也變成天鵝了!醜小鴨其實是天鵝寶寶,不是鴨
子,醜小鴨非常高興,小時候長得太醜都沒有人願意跟他做朋友,而現在他終
於有朋友了。

潘朵拉的盒子
宙斯給了潘朵拉 1 個盒子,但是要求她不可以打開,但是潘朵拉不敵好奇
心的誘惑,還是偷偷地把盒子打開了,然而盒子裡裝的是許多不幸的事物,像
是疾病、禍害等。潘朵拉把盒子打開後,原本寧靜沒有任何災害的世界開始動
盪不安起來;慌亂中,潘朵拉趕緊蓋住盒子,結果盒內只剩「希望」沒飛出去
因此,即使人類不斷地受苦受難、生活中遭遇種種挫折和折磨,「希望」都不
會消失。
但有種說法是潘朵拉關住的應該是「預兆」,因為「預兆」這個災禍被困
在盒底,所以人類才擁有「希望」,而不致於活在絕望當中。如果潘朵拉關住
了「希望」,那麼人類世界應該是沒有「希望」而活在沒有前途、充滿了毀滅
的世界中,所有的「希望」僅僅是海市蜃樓的幻想。不過,還有種說法是,這
盒子裡除了裝有不幸的事物之外,同時也裝有幸福、友情、愛情等幸福的事物
所以潘朵拉在蓋上盒子時,才留住了「希望」。

狼來了
從前有 1 個放羊的男孩每天都會帶羊兒到山上吃草。因為日子每天都是這
樣過,所以他的腦子裡想到了 1 個解悶的方法。某天,他像往常一樣把羊兒帶
到山上吃草,突然,他大喊「狼來啦!狼來啦!」,但其實山上除了他和羊,
沒有任何其他動物,村民們信以為真,立刻把他們家的掃帚、木棍等等統統跑
去山上把狼趕走。當他們到了山上後發現並沒有狼,倒是男孩在那捧腹大笑還
說:「你們這麼這樣笨啊!我隨便說說你們就相信,真是笨!哈…哈…哈…」
其中 1 個村民生氣地說:「若你以後需要『幫助』請別再找我們了,我們很
忙!」。有 1 天,狼真的來了,男孩大喊「救命啊!救命啊!我可憐的羊兒被
狼吃掉了!快來呀!」村民們以為他又在騙人了,所以大家都當做沒有聽到,
結果男孩的羊就被狼給吃掉了。

酸葡萄
狐狸與葡萄(The Fox and the Grapes)是伊索寓言中的 1 則寓言。中文
的慣用語「酸葡萄心理」即源自此寓言。1 隻狐狸試圖去把長在樹上葡萄藤上
的 1 串葡萄拿下來,但試了多遍都不成功,於是就離開並怨恨地說:「那 1 串
葡萄是酸的!一點也不好吃!我才不希望吃到呢!」。
當 1 個人得不到自己想要的東西時,就會把那樣東西看得一文不值,以解
心中的嫉妒,是 1 種典型的心理防衛機制,以處理認知失調所帶來的心理壓力 。
在英語中,成語「酸葡萄」就來自這個寓言。它是指:想要得到 1 樣東西但得
不到,就否認它的價值。
