COURSE SYNOPSIS :
This course focuses on the theories, ideologies and the philosophical underpinning
related to the design and development of mathematics curriculum. The intent is to
develop students’ critical understanding of not only the knowledge and the processes
involved in developing and evaluating mathematics curriculum, but also the power and
the politics underlying it. The course is grounded in discussions about mathematics
curriculum used locally (KBSR/KBSM/KSSR/KSSM) as well as overseas.

COURSE EVALUATION:
Your grade will be based on the individual and group assignments, seminar, group
presentation and test. The distribution is as follows:
Assignment I (Individual) 20 %
Assignment II (Group) 20 %
Seminar 10 %
Group Presentation 10 %
Test 1 & 2 40 %
You are expected to attend all meetings of the class. Attendance will be taken at the
beginning of each class. Please take note that if you have one absent without any valid
reason, you will get a verbal warning. A warning letter from the Head of the Department will
be issued if you miss the class for the second time. If more than four times you will be bared
for the final exam.
